The Farm Continued...
Similarly our lambs are bred on the farm and are reared entirely naturally on grass,
we have mainly Suffolk and some of the continental Texel breeds of sheep.
None of our pork pigs or lambs have ever been through a market or dealer and once
our beef animals arrive on our farm as young calves they do not leave the farm. We
take our stock to a local abattoir and journeys in the trailer are kept to an absolute
minimum, minimising stress and unnecessary Food Miles.
We also rear turkeys for Christmas, they are reared on straw bedding in large barns
with plenty of space, and enjoy natural ventilation and light. We buy them in early
so they reach full maturity naturally before they are killed. They are not fed any
growth promoters. The turkeys are killed and processed on the farm with minimising
their stress a priority.
