Hobbs House Bakery was established in the Cotswolds in the 1920’s and we are a true family business with five generations of baking experience. They are now bringing up the sixth generation of aspiring bakers and believe that handmade bread should be available to everyone. At the bakery in Chipping Sodbury, their expert team of bakers produce an exceptional range of high quality breads, pastries and confectionery. See below, some of our favourites that we stock.
The everyday best seller is our Sherston Loaf. We mix the dough in the afternoon and leave it slowly to ferment overnight to bring out its full flavour and character. One of our most popular loaves, making the best toast in the world.
A true sourdough, with a delicious chewy texture and flavoursome crust. Handmade with our 65-year-old sourdough starter, fermented for 14 hours. Perfect for Cheese toasties and served warm with a meal.
6 seed malted
A fantastic seedy, grainy, wholesome, beautiful loaf. A handcrafted, multi-seeded loaf proved in cane baskets and baked on the sole of the oven.
5 seed spelt
Enriched with a vitality-boosting blend of five different seeds and grains, this special part baked loaf is made with flour from spelt, an ancient grain which is low in gluten and high in fibre and vitamins.
Organic Wild White
A mouth-watering Sourdough bread with a tasty crust. The Wild White takes its name from the wild yeasts within the Sourdough with which the dough is raised, producing a flavour filled crust, a moist and chewy centre, and an irresistible sourdough taste. Fermented for 14 hours.
Organic Ancient Grains
Bursting with Sourdough tang. Baked with organic ‘ancient grains’ from Kamut® Flour. This sourdough has a soft crumb with a crisp crust.
light rye Sourdough
Hobbs House Bakery’s best selling loaf online, and one of our favourites. It is loved by those with intolerances. Perfect, just with butter or with a slice of mature cheddar.
GiFt Gluten Free Bread
A gluten free loaf packed with healthy ingredients. Full of the good stuff, made primarily from sorghum flour (plant based flour) and teff flour (a small gluten free grain). Loaded with fibrous seeds, chia seeds, flax seeds and with the addition of chickpea sourdough and nutritious psyllium husks this loaf is a great healthy alternative for everyone.
Only the best ingredients go into our homemade cakes. Passionately produced with care and attention to acquire the right taste and texture. We make fresh sponges every Wednesday, Thursday & Friday.
